Discovering Cardato regenerated CO2 neutral

C.L.A.S.S. has closely followed Cardato regenerated CO2 neutral since its inception: we now want to update you on how the market is responding and how the Prato Chamber of Commerce is promoting this amazingly interesting material (we also reveal here the Made in Cardato Contest winners).

C.L.A.S.S. is proud to host in its eco-libraries some significative companies with their Cardato regenerated CO2 neutral fabrics and some apparel collections.

WHY CARDATO REGENERATED CO2 NEUTRAL?

Eliminating the carbon footprint of the textile production process, while at the same time certifying the use of regenerated raw materials: this is the dual nature of the brand Cardato regenerated CO2 neutral, certified by the Prato Chamber of Commerce.

The Cardato Regenerated CO2 neutral brand was created to offer market fashion leaders an eco-friendly product: one that is comfortable to wear and that respects the environment.

In brief, to achieve the “Cardato Regenerated CO2 neutral” certification, materials must :

  • Be produced in the industrial district of Prato;
  • Be produced from at least 70% recycled material (old clothing or textile off-cuts);
  • Have accounted for their CO2 emissions and have purchased emission credits from the Prato Chamber of Commerce. The amount of credits purchased must correspond to business’ production volume.

«Twenty-two textile companies – among them producers of recycled wool, fabrics and yarns – have so far adhered to the rules governing the brand “CO2 neutral”, “canceling”, in 2012, through the purchase of green certificates, 14 tons of carbon dioxide.» Reveals Luca Giusti, President of Prato Chamber of Commerce.
